Harvard Announces Nas Hip-Hop Fellowship Because If You Can Learn Hip-Hop Anywhere, It's In A Harvard Classroom
(THE GIST) — Harvard University has announced the creation of a new hip-hop fellowship named for famed artist Nasir "Nas" Jones, as a classroom in Cambridge, Massachusetts is of course the perfect place to learn about hip-hop.
The W.E.B. Du Bois Institute at Harvard has paired with Harvard's Hip-Hop Archive - yes, they have a Hip-Hop Archive - to create the fellowship in honor of Nas, an 8th grade drop-out whose lyrics will be broken down, analyzed, and beaten into the ground by Harvard students and professors.
Now, firmly planting themselves in the hip-hop game, Harvard may likely become the hub for privileged students looking to disappoint their successful parents by studying hip-hop "for a lark."
